Hands On Clay Camp

Instructor: Renato Abbate

From mud to ceramics - this camp focuses on the basics of hand-building, pinching, coiling and rolling out slabs to create a variety of decorative and functional pieces. Projects may include relief tiles, wind chimes, ocarinas, ugly jugs, games and more. (up to and in Middle School) Tuition includes clay, glazing, and firing cost.

Don't want to commit to a series of classes but want to work in clay? Drop-in Saturday Clay Studio invites all skill levels (adults & youth). Register online or show up on any designated Saturday. Professional clay teaching artists available to assist. Pre-registration is not required.

Using photographs, students learn to draw their favorite animal and the secrets to drawing feathered and furry friends. Focus of this class is in measuring, seeing shapes and value, rendering textures and bringing out personality. (student image)

Learning from current CAM exhibition “Minnie, Clyde, Annie, Vollis”, campers create colorful 2-D and sculptural 3-D art using non-traditional materials. Global Explorers: Art Around The World. Join us on a journey travelling around the globe and learning about different cultural traditions of the world through art. Campers explore eastern influences by spending time in CAM exhibitions “A Time When Art Is Everywhere: teamLab” and “Along the Eastern Sea Road”. Projects include drawing, animation, clay, and printmaking. Kids @ CAMp provides an imaginative and nurturing environment for your young artists to explore the museum. Children are introduced to an assortment of materials, techniques and ideas. All campers work in a variety of mediums, creating their own works of art; creativity and self-expression are encouraged. Each session culminates with a Campers’ Art Reception for family and friends. Register Early! Camps are limited to 15 students and can fill quickly.
